How the port strike could impact the U.S. economy

How the port strike could impact the U.S. economy

A strike hitting ports along the East and Gulf coasts could stoke prices for food, autos and a host of other consumer goods but is expected to cause only modest broader impacts. Some of the main industries facing challenges include coal, energy and agricultural products. There are potential buffers, though, to the damage a strike could cause. West Coast ports are expected to take on some of the freight business that would normally go to the eastern ports. Also, some companies had been anticipating the stoppage and stockpiled ahead of time. How the port strike could impact the U.S. economy…

French dig team finds archaeologist’s 200-year-old note

A team of student volunteers on an archaeological dig in northern France has had a surprise communication from the past. Sifting through the remains of a Gaulish village on cliff-tops near Dieppe on Monday, they uncovered an earthenware pot containing a small glass flask. “It was the kind of vial that women used to wear round their necks containing smelling-salts,” said team-leader Guillaume Blondel, who heads the archaeological service for the town of Eu. Inside the bottle was a message on paper, rolled up and tied with string. On Tuesday evening, Mr Blondel opened the paper – which read as…

Study Shows Why Gen Z Are Increasingly Choosing Blue-Collar Jobs Instead Of College

The traditional path for graduating high school students is fairly straightforward. They’re expected to pursue higher education by going to college, picking a major, then finding work in their field once they finish school. Yet that path has proven itself to be incredibly expensive, and many young people are choosing a different way. Power cuts are plaguing Africa with renewable energy

Simply sit, stand or lie in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Take in a deep breath, inhaling slowly and all the way into your belly. Hold your breath for a moment, then exhale slowly. Repeat for however long you like. Short or long, meditation has the power to change your mood, your day, and even your life. If you’ve never tried a short meditation, why not do it today? You might be amazed at what happens. Several people on Twitter and other theatre kid-dominated social media platforms have responded to these offensive, misguided reviews of The Lightning Thief by demanding…
